How can I change the unit of the amount displayed in the liquidation method?

This can be changed from the Edit Group page. If nothing is set, there will be an error of about 1 cent due to the issue of rounding up to the nearest whole number, but the default setting is "rounded to the nearest 0.01".

What situations can Spliito be used in?

Spliito is a versatile web app that can be used for a variety of situations, such as traveling with friends, hosting parties, camping trips, ski trips, bachelor/bachelorette parties, picnics, sports club outings, and even house sharing. Its user-friendly design makes it easy for anyone to quickly learn how to use the app and keep track of money owed and borrowed among friends, helping to facilitate smooth settlements.

How is the liquidation method calculated?

Spliito uses an algorithm to determine the most efficient way to settle loans and borrows among group members. To begin, we calculate the total amount of money borrowed and lent by each member, as shown in Table 1. For example, in the case of a highway toll expense, the cost was $24, but Kevin paid for Chris and Todd, so they now owes him $8. The bottom row shows the total amount borrowed and lent by each member.

This result means that Kevin has a debt of $24, Chris has a debt of $15, and Todd has a loan of $39. To reduce these loans and debts to zero, we follow these steps: Kevin gives Todd $24, reducing Kevin's debt to zero and leaving Todd with $15 left to lend. Next, Chris gives Todd $15, reducing Chris's debt to zero and Todd's loan to zero. This method may seem confusing as money may be returned to those who did not owe it or not returned by those who lent it. However, when viewed as a whole group, everything will be liquidated.

How can I edit members?

To add members to a group, click on the "Edit Group" button at the bottom of the group page. On the "Edit Group" page, you will find a form to add members. Enter the names of the members you wish to add and click the "Add" button. Note that you cannot delete a member who is already linked to a payment.

How can I change the currency for liquidation?

You can change this setting on the group's "Edit" page. For instance, if you plan to travel abroad and want to liquidate the group in the local currency, you should change the default clearing currency accordingly.

How is the exchange rate determined?

Exchange rate is updated once a day at 00:00 a.m. UTC. When you select a foreign currency and register a payment, the latest rate is applied and registered.

How can I record that the settlement is complete?

In Spliito, there is no feature that indicates a state such as "settlement complete." This is because, even if you believe the settlement is complete, there may be instances where you want to add records of advances you had forgotten about later, and to keep the functionality as simple as possible. If you want to record that the settlement is complete, you can register the repayment amount as an advance record. By doing so, you can hide it from the "settlement method."

Can I delete my group?

Currently, it is not possible to delete a group. If you accidentally created a group, you can either recreate it or edit it on the "Edit Group" page.

Can I download an app?

We do not currently have an app that allows you to easily introduce Spliito to your friends. For example, when you use Spliito with friends on a trip or at a home party, it can be cumbersome to ask all members to install the app.

How long will the group's data be stored?

Group data is stored permanently.

How can I download payment records as a CSV file?

When you open Spliito on a PC, a "Download Payments in CSV" button will appear at the bottom of the payment records list. You can click this button to download the payment records in CSV format.

The CSV file includes information such as registration date, item name, currency, amount, paid by, and owed by, which can be managed using spreadsheet software.
